Different types of rubber-lined pipes have different anti-aging properties. For example, butyl rubber exhibits strong anti-aging ability in outdoor environments due to its good weather resistance and ozone resistance; while fluororubber, due to its good chemical stability, can resist the erosion of various chemical media, thereby extending its service life.
Adding an appropriate amount of antioxidants, anti-aging agents and other additives to the rubber-lined pipe formula can effectively delay the aging process of rubber. These additives can capture free radicals, absorb ultraviolet rays or prevent the occurrence of oxidation reactions, thereby protecting the rubber molecular chain from damage.
The degree of vulcanization of rubber has an important influence on its anti-aging performance. Moderate vulcanization can make the rubber molecular chain form a stable cross-linked structure, improve the strength and wear resistance of the rubber-lined pipe; but excessive vulcanization may cause the rubber to become hard and brittle, which in turn reduces its anti-aging performance.
Environmental factors
Temperature: High temperature will accelerate the oxidation and cracking reaction of rubber, causing the rubber to age rapidly. Therefore, rubber-lined pipes used in high temperature environments need to select rubber materials with good high temperature resistance and take effective insulation measures.
Oxygen and ozone: Oxygen and ozone are one of the main factors that cause rubber aging. They can react with the unsaturated bonds in the rubber molecular chain, causing the rubber to harden, crack and lose elasticity. Therefore, when designing and using rubber lined pipes, long-term exposure to oxygen- and ozone-rich environments should be avoided as much as possible.
Ultraviolet rays: Ultraviolet rays can destroy the chemical bonds in the rubber molecular chain, causing cracks and powdering on the rubber surface. For rubber lined pipes used outdoors, anti-ultraviolet measures should be taken, such as applying anti-ultraviolet coatings or installing sunshade facilities.
